Appointments & Insurance

Sun Orthopaedic schedules appointments Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Routine appointments are scheduled in advance by calling 570-524-4446 or 1-800-598-5096. One of our physicians is available for emergency calls 24 hours a day. When you dial the after hours phone number, 570-522-2002, an answering service operator will determine the nature of your call and contact the on-call physician. Otherwise go to the Emergency Room at Evangelical Community Hospital, or Shamokin Area Community Hospital and ask to see a physician from our practice.

When you call to schedule your initial appointment, please have your insurance information available at that time. We will obtain as much information as possible to verify coverage prior to your appointment, so that we are able to properly educate you on how the billing process works within our facility.

While every attempt is made to honor your appointment, emergencies may occasionally produce delays. If a delay occurs, we will try to notify you so you can reschedule. To avoid any inconvenience, please be sure that our office has both your home and business telephone numbers. We suggest you call the office one hour before your appointment to inquire if a long wait is anticipated.

First Visit
Your first appointment will allow us to gather vital information in treating your condition. Please bring your insurance card, previous x-rays, lab reports and medical records relevant to the visit, and a list of current prescriptions.

Hospital Admission
Should you require hospitalization, our staff will make the necessary arrangements. If your insurance company requires precertification or a second surgical opinion, please alert our staff to ensure that your insurance requirements are met. Each day a SUN Orthopaedic physician or physician assistan will monitor your hospitalization.

Insurance
We are participating physicians with Pennsylvania Blue Shield, Medicare, Medicaid, HealthAmerica, Keystone Health Plan Central, HealthAssurance, Geisinger Health Plan, Capital Blue Cross, and worker‘s compensation. You are responsible for any deductible, co-insurance or non-covered services. In order to reduce the rising costs of medical services, we require co-payments at the time of service. A universal claim form is submitted after each visit so your insurance company can process your claim.

Billing
Unless your insurance plan covers office visits, you will be requested to pay at the time of each visit. Patient accounts are billed monthly. We accept cash, personal checks, VISA and MasterCard.

If you do not have insurance or require special payment arrangements, please call our Patient Account Representative during office hours. We will work with you to arrange a personalized payment plan. Our billing office will help answer any questions you may have about coverage.
